After working with Unreal Engine 5 for several semesters, I embraced a new challenge in this project: creating a loop station in virtual reality for musicians.
The LoopStation allows the artist to play various instruments and record endless loops in virtual reality. These loops can then be played back alongside other instruments to create unique musical compositions. The VR environment offers the musician an immersive and creative experience, enabling them to explore and refine their musical ideas in a virtual studio setting.
Concept

In the simulation, the artist has the ability to pick up two sticks. With these sticks, they can play different instruments by striking the keys. Additionally, they can use the sticks to record loops and control the LoopStation.
The intuitive controls allow the musician to effortlessly immerse themselves in the virtual music world and bring their creative ideas to life in real-time. This innovative VR interaction enhances the musical experience, making it more immersive and interactive, ultimately creating an inspiring and enjoyable workspace for musicians.
Sketch

In this design, the artist has the capability to record up to 5 audio tracks and create a song by combining them. Each track can be played and recorded using the pads or keyboards in front of them.
The LoopStation can be initiated by touching the small red ball. To start or stop the previously recorded instruments, the larger balls can be touched with the sticks.
Problem-Solving

Relatively early on, a problem arose. The keys being played did not respond immediately. The so-called input lag made it nearly impossible to play the instruments in rhythm.
As can be seen in the photos, I attempted to minimize the scene's functions and restructured some programming to counteract the input lag.
LoopRoom

Although I wasn't able to create a professional VR software during the course, I was still able to bring some joy to children and adults at the exhibition.
The opportunity to play and record different instruments provided an entertaining and interactive experience for the visitors. While my original goal wasn't completely achieved, it was still gratifying to see how my work generated positive reactions and brought joy to the attendees.
